HOMEWORK – WK2 ready for WK4.
Group Presentation. Week 4. 21st OCTOBER

1. You are to form a group of FIVE students.

You are to visit at least two galleries or other venues/spaces in/around London, and find work
by artists who use ‘OBJECTS‘ in their work – perhaps to tell stories, play with memory, subvert meaning, reframe the familiar, reflect on their culture, on history etc. They might be photographers, painters, printmakers, sculptors, etc …

2. Choose ONE artist between you to focus on.

3. As a group you are to make a 20 second film that is a considered, collective RESPONSE to that artist’s work.

this could be animated, live-action, performed by you all, it could be filmed drawings or puppetry, you may make costumes and objects that you paint and then film, you could make drawings and film them – it could be a mixture of all of the above! and more! PLAY – HAVE FUN – THERE ARE NO RULES AND NO WRONG ANSWERS

4. You will incorporate your film into a 5 MINUTE presentation in Powerpoint, Keynote, or equivalent. You should present together as a group.

Final work

This is a emagiation story about Elephant and castle.

A long time ago, the habitat of some primitive people was invaded by wild animals, and a wise man use elephants to drive away from the wild animals to keep the safety of the locals.

For his great did, people respected him and made him become the king of this place. This king highly respects the elephant because it is which gives him success.

As time went by, the village developed, then became the place Elephant and castle as we all know.

(The link below is the real reason why elephant and castle called elephant and castle)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant_and_Castle

The name “Elephant and Castle”is derived from the name of a pub/coaching inn located at this major crossroad.[3] The earliest surviving record of this name in relation to this area appears in the Court Leet Book of the Manor of Walworth, which met at “Elephant and Castle, Newington” on 21 March 1765.[4]

Previously the site was occupied by a blacksmith and cutler – the crest of the Worshipful Company of Cutlers features an elephant with a castle (representing a howdah) on its back, which in turn was used because of the use of elephant ivory in handles; this association with the Cutlers is considered a far more likely explanation for the name.[4]

The inn was rebuilt in 1816 and again in 1898, and the present Elephant & Castle pub, at the junction of New Kent Road and Newington Causeway, was part of 1960s comprehensive redevelopment.

Newington, which was the name of the village forming the basis to the neighborhood before the inn’s name took over, is a commonplace name in England.[a] London quickly expanded into the northern parts of the parish from 1750 to 1830. By the end of the 19th century, ten daughter parishes had arisen in Newington including its secondary manor, Walworth. No notable upper, lower, or hill parts of the ancient parish nor compass points have been used, so to locate businesses and homes without reference to traditional saints divisions, many people popularised the informal name, of the notable public house. Other instances in Inner London are ‘Angel’ at Islington and Bricklayers Arms at the east end of New Kent Road.
